This is just a reminder: Kick some MCAS A$$!
Fuel up: Eat a good breakfast and bring a snack. You will be in the cafeteria for the first four periods!
Think Positively: You can do this! You all can get a 6 on your long comp. You will be the reason we reclaim our #1 spot. BLS who????
Brainstorm and Outline: Choose a book that you KNOW! Be sure you know the title, author, characters AND how to spell them. Be sure you spend time organizing your thoughts prior to taking the MCAS (your brainstorm) and take time to outline your essay.
For the Long Comp: Answer the question (the long composition is a two-parter), your intro needs to have a clear thesis, each body paragraph needs to have a claim (which in the topic sentence in each body para.), evidence to support that claim, then a connection and explanation of HOW the evidence supports your claim. Plan an outline, THEN write.
When making a thesis: don’t explain that the topic exists, but HOW and WHY the topic asked of you is important. (ie: we know that imagery is used in Night, but how and why is the imagery important).
During class time: Bring research materials for your slang project so you can begin working on it and using the materials provided for you. OR you can read TCITR. You need to read through chapter 11 by Friday. Catch up if you have to. The rest of the week is yours to do either of these assignments:
Due Friday: Ch 9 to 11 (be prepared for an in-class assignment)
Due Mon: Slang Project (visual and be ready to present)
Good Luck!
