Term 1 Wrap up

24 Oct

BindersYour Binders WILL be collected and graded for term 1.  so be prepared. They are counted as a test grade. If you do not have your binder when I ask for it (because you should be bringing it with you AT ALL TIMES), then you will earn a ZERO.

Binders will be collected on FRIDAY 10/28.

You are welcome to come AFTER SCHOOL to organize your binder. I’m here!!! Remember, you need to do this ON YOUR OWN TIME!!!

What I look for: organization, required sections, clear, numbered, labeled, completed table of contents, name on everything. Your “do now” section must be complete, dated, etc.

Make-up work: I allow you enough time to make up the work for as many days as you were absent, not when you feel like turning it in. I will not allow you to turn in assignments. I have already graded it and will not take MY personal time to grade something that I have already taken the time to grade. It was due when it was due. You know the story by now. The work is accessible ONLINE and in the classroom. This is YOUR responsibility to complete it and turn it in with your name on it!!!

I don’t “Give” grades: You EARN the grades you get: put in effort, time, hard work, follow directions, ask for help. If you are worried about passing for the year, I do not give you grades, I do not make up grades, and I do not give you credit for something you did not do. You had all term to complete over 30 assignments, or 30 chances to earn an A+!

These are non-negotiable: seniors who will not walk at graduation to underclassmen who have to drag a class: fair is fair is fair. This also should not surprise you; these have been my policies since September. I do not make exceptions.

Binder/Notebook Reminder

1 Feb

Starting in term 3:

Binders will be checked RANDOMLY!

Why? Because you need to keep it in order at all times AND bring it to class with you everyday.

Students will be selected at Random in each class, some days a class will not have a check, some days ten people may be checked. Also, just because you have had your binder collected, doesn’t mean you can’t be chosen again. I will take the most recent grade, even if you don’t have it the second time!

Make sure all of you sections are corrrect and that all of your work is completed in order to earn full credit.

Be prepared!

Fix your binder on YOUR OWN TIME. That means: come after school or during your study. If you just write down the notes into your table of contents as they are written down each day in class, you shouldn’t have to play catch up. You can find extra notes, table of contents and a hole punch in my room. It is YOUR responsibility to get these things.

All Grades: Reminders

5 May

The End of the school year is approaching. I just want to make sure that my expectations set forth from September are clear and considered.

Binders: Your Binders WILL be collected and graded for term 4 on Friday or Monday, so be prepared. They are counted as a test grade. If you do not have your binder when I ask for it (because you should be bringing it with you AT ALL TIMES), then you will earn a ZERO. Seniors: your binders will be collected on Tuesday, 5/10.

Make-up work: I allow you enough time to make up the work for as many days as you were absent, not when you feel like turning it in. I will not allow you to turn in assignments. I have already graded it and will not take MY personal time to grade something that I have already taken the time to grade. It was due when it was due. You know the story by now.

I don’t “Give” grades: You EARN the grades you get: put in effort, time, hard work, follow directions, ask for help. If you are worried about passing for the year, I do not give you grades, I do not make up grades, and I do not give you credit for something you did not do. You had all year to do well, all term to complete over 30 assignments, or30 chances to earn an A+!

These are non-negotiable, seniors who will not walk at graduation to underclassmen who have to drag a class: fair is fair is fair. This also should not surprise you; these have been my policies since September. I do not make exceptions.

If you are concerned with passing for the term or the year, then I am not sure what to tell you. You had ALL YEAR to work hard, to complete assignments, to come for extra help. If you are waiting for the last minute to graduate, pass, get a scholarship, then that ownership has been, and is now,on YOU for the past nine months. I have done all that I could to make you successful and you made CHOICES of what you wanted to do with what I had to offer you.

You need to stay strong for the duration of the term and school year. Be sure to compete ALL assignments! Study Hard for finals, create outside study groups, come for extra help, and do whatever you need to do so that your best foot steps forward.

ALL CLASSES: Binders

13 Dec

Plastic BindersDear students,

The end of the term is approaching. I expect you to be able to be responsible and exceed the expectations set forth in this class. You are all college bound and need to be able to follow directions.

This is a friendly and courteous reminder about your binders. I WILL NOT give you notice for when I will collect and grade them. Consider this the only amount of notice. If I do not collect them for this term, then they will be collected upon return from the holiday break and counted for TERM 3.

It is YOUR responsibility to ensure the following:

  • bring them to class at all times
  • you have all the appropriate sections
  • sections are organized, labeled and have the appropriate info. in there
  • Journals are dated and your response is clear and elaborate. It indicates you use time wisely
  • Keep it neat and clean
  • For Freshman only: You need to make sure your T.O.C section is labeled, numbered, in order and completed.

Binders

19 Oct

To ALL Classes:

This is a reminder: you must bring your binder with you to class at ALL times. Make sure you have the appropriate sections and everything you have in your binder is IN the appropriate sections.

If you have any questions about what you need to have for sections, check the course outlines (which are on the website AND I gave a hard copy to you on the first day of school). You can grab your papers before or after school if you were absent when things have been passed back. Also, I am after school for help.

I will not tell you when I collect them because they should be organized and with you at all times.
